Today is Wednesday.... which means Maddie and I went couponing bright and early!
Got some pretty amazing deals today.... including 4 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios for .88 each! That was my biggest score.... but I also got 4 boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch for $1.50 each (not super great but still worth buying).... so yeah I bought 8 boxes of cereal today :o)
It only took us a little over two hours, and we went to three grocery stores.... I love to know what I'm getting so that I can get in and out!
On another note.... we have been trying to cut back Maddie's naps because she just isn't tired at bed time now.... She normally goes to bed at 9:00, but lately she hasn't actually been falling asleep until 10:00-10:30 which is INSANE! Today she slept for a total of about 15 minutes on the way home from shopping.... and it is showing! Can we say "CRANKY".... I tried to get her to rest more when we got home, but for some reason she just wasn't having it! Oh dear lord I can't handle it.... when she gets overly tired there is nothing that can make her happy.... she's totally unreasonable about everything.
She has always been such a great sleeper.... not one argument about going to bed, etc. so this is all new to me! I think I'm going to try to get her up earlier tomorrow and see how that goes, because she obviously still needs a nap!
Forgot to mention.... she is 100% panty now! She only wears a pull-up at night (and normally that is dry....she wakes up and pees or poos in her potty in her room - for about a week straight now!)...... YAY!
I love the fact that one package of pull-ups lasts up about a month now..... soooooo much cheaper! :o)
Now it's time to have baby #2..... just kidding! We are probably still going to wait a little while... I want to get her into school first..... which is a whole other topic in itself! :o)

Warm & Sunny.... in January!
I guess we aren't going to have a winter this year..... it is 64 degrees outside right now! Crazy!
So now I'm starting to get excited about planting the garden.... guess it will be sooner this year than expected!
I have never had my own garden before, but growing up we had one, so I'm sure I'll figure it out. The neighbors behind us have a HUGE garden every year and they said that they would help me out as much as I needed. I'm super excited about growing our own veggies!
I am planning on doing a few rows of corn, tomatoes (a few different kinds... cherries, romas, etc), green beans, squash, zucchini, and onions (red and white, and green).
Probably going to try some strawberries as well... because we love them and they freeze so well.
I haven't decided on potatoes and pumpkins, those are possibilities too!
And I would like to do some herbs in a small pot on the porch..... gotta have cilantro to make salsa!!!
I hope we get a good turnout so that I can fill the pantry and freezer with yummy-ness! :o)

Sunday Funday.... Bowling Edition!
We took Maddie bowling today for our "Sunday Funday" activity. With Matt working so much, we decided a long time ago that we leave Sunday's as our family day.... meaning that the three of us spend the entire day together doing something fun! It may not sound like a big deal to everyone, but for us it is very special. We are always trying to think of new things to do with Maddie..... and today it was BOWLING!
She had been once before but it was for a Christmas party, and long story short it was not a very organized party so things were confusing and chaotic.... so we decided to try again, but with just the three of us!
We had a blast..... I couldn't bowl (due to a toe injury that is still healing....ugh! It's been too cold to wear flip flops... I'm FREEZING!) but I had just as much fun watching. They only bowled one game, because as well all know, things with toddlers always take longer! But it was cheap (apparently Sunday mornings are a good time to go.... here's a little tip for everyone: call and find out if they offer a discount before a certain time.... for example our local lanes do $1.68 a game bowling before 1:00 pm on Sundays.... so it was under $15 for our Sunday Funday.... shoes were around $5/per pair ($10 for two).... and the games, as I said, were $1.68 so times that by 2 and you have a whopping $3.36). Food at the lanes can be very expensive.... so we opted to go to lunch after at Arby's.
After lunch, we had to stop at Harris Teeter for momma to do some couponing..... Here's what I got:
2 bottles of laundry detergent 150 oz each
2 boxes Kashi Go Lean Cereal
2 boxes Kashi TLC Bars
2 rolls of paper towels
2 Kraft instant microwave mac & cheese
2 boxes Quaker Oatmeal
all for under $30!
I'm excited because it's enough laundry detergent to last us for a few months.... at least!
Matt is excited because he loves anything Kashi.... but it is normally so expensive that I don't buy it.... I get a good coupon every once and a while.... but today was beyond good..... $1.97 a box!
And while talking about saving money.....
here's a deal for you.....
snapfish.com is offering 99 4x6 prints for .99 cents..... coupon code: 99PRINTS
offer good until 01/25
So to complete our Sunday Funday.... we all piled up on the couch and watched Shrek 2.... warm and cozy! I had coffee and they had frozen fruit "ice cream".... haha!

It's been F*O*R*E*V*E*R and a day.....
My last post was Oct 22, 2009..... that was a loooooong time ago!!!!
I really started this blog to keep track of things that Maddie was doing.... but now that it is two and half years later.... I don't even know where to start to explain how our lives have changed since then....
so I'm just going to start from today.... January 22, 2012.... Maddie is almost three years old.... and we are counting down to her big birthday bash!
The main reason that I want to start blogging again is to keep track of the funny, interested, and sometimes just plain weird things that our Maddie Grace says! She is such a big personality in a little package.... and I want to be able to look back one day and remember her personality at this age.
So here are the things she has said/done lately that keeps up laughing:
- She told me that her dinner was "horrible good"
- Matt: "Maddie are you still my baby?" Maddie: "Nope... I'm a child"
- She tells me on a daily basis.... "thanks so much for my lunch mom, it was very delicious"
- She walks around the house all day in her play high heels and panties.... it is so cute and she walks better in heels than most adult women!
- She calls Canon "Bub".... so she chases him around the house saying "come here my Bub"
- She told me that I'm her best friend, but Jessica is her favorite
- She loves to tell everyone that her daddy "just works, works, works.... all the time"
- When I picked her up from Grammy's house today she told me "Mom, I missed you soooo much while you were gone" (my heart melted :o)
- While bowling.... she was rooting Matt on saying "Go Daddy... Go Daddy.... You're a genius!"
- She has NO understanding of time.... so when telling you a story, everything always happened "Friday" or "Last night"
- She knows her ABCs and can count to 20 (but she always leaves out the number 13)
- She can spell her name "MDGDB".... yep that's how she always spells it!!!!!
